Then, the next suspect was Ms. Pryce. She has the key to all the apartments and to the basements. She is the “building administrator”. She is kind of a gothic person; she wears black and dark blue clothes all the time. Next is Mr. Barrymore, we suspect that he is because when Finnegan spreads out that “supposedly” his spoon was missing, he overheard Mr. Barrymore saying “She is lying”, and also when he found out that Mr. Barrymore was walking through out the basements at night for a long time trying to find something. Finnegan thought that it was strange, so he made us assume that he was the killer, but we were wrong again. Finally, the two nurses. Since all the time there were new suspects, we just imagined for some reason that they were the killers. See? This is why this book is a well thought out book; it makes you think more precisely about each clue, and what they can be used for. Normally, all books have something funny. In this book, the funny parts are the puns and the way the characters think. When you play with words, and make funny meaning out of them, they are called puns. In The Horizontal Man, Uncle Stoppard and Detective Lemon-Olsen have some funny things they say. Like when Uncle and Finnegan were opening all the shoe boxes with blue shoes, and Uncle Stoppard says that he gives the shoes to the Salvation Army because they like saving soles. Another pun is when Detective Lemon says that if they wanted, he could offer some Lemon aid. In this book, sometimes the characters think really funny; the people in the book call the cops “uniforms”! Finally… all mystery books have to have mystery and suspense involved. Right? Well, this book has both. You never know what is going to happen. You believe something at first and then you believe in something different. Mystery books make you ask questions as: “Who did it?” or “Why did he killed such person?” or “How come?” Each good mystery book makes you turn the page, because you want to know who was the killer or murderer.
