Later on, Jean’s best friend Andrea Hull’s family adopts a girl named Millie for a week. Then Andrea’s family moves to Shanghai. Jeans starts to feel lonely so she concentrates on going to Peitaiho during summer vacation. But when her Dad says they have a change of plan about not going to Peitaiho, but instead were going to Kuling she is upset because they would never be able to go the Peitaiho again due to the fact that they were planning to leave China in April. She pointed out that there would of the next year and would be in the United States in the next summer. While they were at Kuling Jean’s baby sister is born.
