(Homelessness).In addition, some people define the homeless as individual people who have lack in food, fixed and enough place to sleep.(KINNEY ).Some homeless people become homeless only for a short time, but others may became number of time in their lives. Homelessness is more a problem of cities than the countryside. There are a lot of homeless people in two kinds of countries, the industrial countries and developing countries. In industrial countries young people are a large number of city homeless. In addition in developing countries whole families perhaps move to a city and become homeless because they don’t find a job. Homeless people often live in abandoned building, areas under bridges, bus stations, cheap hotels, emergency shelters or on the street. Worldwide there are more than 100 million homeless people.(Homelessness). V. Causes of homelessness There are many reasons which have caused this serious problem. The most important reason is housing. The houses are too expensive and some people don’t find a good house with good rent. Nowadays in the United State the rent for a studio and one bedroom cost $550 to $900 and this rent is more than an old person cant to pay. In addition some people who lost their houses and their place living cant find another because the cheap housing is not available and the wages have not kept up with housing costs. So the people who don’t have a family or friends to help them become homeless because it is difficult and expensive to rent a place to live.( Beaumon ). Many homeless people also have problems which are related to alcohol and drugs especially cocaine and heroin. The alcoholics and drug addicts are ejected from their houses. So they go to the street or to the shelter. In addition they spend their funds to buy alcohol and drugs.(Torry). If we don’t help the people who have drug problems, they will lose everything they have.(McCabe). There is a relationship between homelessness and family violence which is known as domestic violence. Homeless women and children are the most common victims of this cause of homelessness. Most of the domestic violence is done by men against women. When the woman leaves because of abusive relationship and she doesn’t have anyone to help her. If she doesn’t have family or friends, she may choose the street to live in . The same thing happens to the children. They may run away from violence and enter a shelter or go to the street.(Criswell) Unemployment is another cause of homelessness. Low skilled and low education workers may find jobs but the salary will be too low. They cant pay for place to live or for food ,so they become homeless. (Criswell).Also some people go to the city to search for work and if they don’t find any, they become homeless too.(Homelessness) VI. How can we help homeless? Both government and simple people can help deal with this serious problem . The federal government plays an important role to solve this problem. This government relief programs which help homeless people not only by finding a place to live but also with food and medical care. ( Criswell). The government tries to solve the problem with drug addition by entering them to rehabilitation programs.(McCabe). Police can also help in this situation. For example, in New York City ,they help the homeless by trying to influence them to go to the shelter instead of street .(Reaching out …). What can we do to help homeless?. We can help them in many ways such as finding volunteers to teach homeless children and delivering free meals to people who live in streets.(McCabe).The local farmers can help too. They can give the homeless food such as potatoes, carrots and onions which they can use to create meals.(Reaching out ….) Dealing with homeless people is an effective way to help them. We can talk to them in a friendly and respectful way. This solution will help them by giving them an amazing sense of civility.
