Homeless People

...the homeless include the mentally ill, I believe that these mentally ill people since they are unable to care for themselves should become the wards of the state. Therefore, the state will be responsible for their welfare. Sometimes a person maybe become homeless because of the lost of the ability to work and provide for one’s self. I believe that these people should be encouraged to become a part of the welfare system. Too many times the population of homeless people is the products of addictive drug use. Establishing a system of counseling for homeless people well help them to get over these hurdles and to start a new productive life. Shelters, which are already provided around the country, need to be renovated. Often times shelters resemble prisons, which is the last thing these people want to experience. Homeless shelters need to provide a sense of warmth, a community like atmosphere. Therefore, homeless people will not feel the need to go back to the cold dark city streets. Adequate health care should be provided in clinics free of charge. Instead on lying in the streets dying from curable diseases, the homeless should have basic health care at their disposal. At Thanksgiving, Christmas and other holidays, soup kitchens and hot meal programs provide meals for the homeless all over the country. A permanent cafeteria serving at least one meal a day should be enacted in every city. This can be a form of community service for youth...
