...el Jeffery Jordan was born to Delores and James Jordan on February 17th, 1963 in Brooklyn NY, but spent his childhood in Wilmington NC. Actually the pregnancy was a high risk one, since his mother was under incredible strain due to working, raising three other children at the time and the unexpected death of her mother. She experienced a near miscarriage and they fully expected Michael to have something wrong with him. The only thing that happened was that his nose bled easily until he was five, and according to Jordan, still does occasionally. Although he was born in NY, his father had taken the family there so he could get take vocational classes to increase his earning power. Shortly thereafter, they moved to NC, which was the hometown of Michael. Growing up, Michael was very close to his parents. Family means a lot to him. In fact, his signature toungue waving is due to the observance of his father, who would waggle his tongue when he would be working on the family car or other projects and young Michael would be assisting. He absolutely adored his parents. "My personality and my laughter come from my father. My business and serious side come from my mother." Very early he started excelling at atheletics.
