...to deal with death and fear numerous times to help him become more courageous. He became something he never thought he could. This tale begins with our aspiring hero Bilbo. Bilbo was always content smoking his pipe and making rings out of the smoke. He was quite and kept to himself. One day as he was sitting smoking his pipe, Gandalf stops by to have a talk with Bilbo. He wanted Bilbo to come on an adventure with him but Bilbo declines. Bilbo invites Gandalf for tea the next morning. Bilbo and Gandalf are very fond of each other. The next morning in his place numerous dwarves show up and invite themselves then Gandalf shows up. It then becomes apparent that Bilbo was chosen to be the thief in an adventure to retrieve stolen dwarf gold from a dragon. Bilbo is very immature and whiny after he had left his handkerchief at home and got all upset. He then decided early on he was going to prove himself. The quest then begins when the group meets at the Green Dragon Inn. From there they set out to the Lone-lands where it begins to rain heavily. Bilbo then realizes Gandalf is gone but later realizes this is normal as he often comes and goes. Bilbo realizes that he has saved the group many times and that he is important, this is difficult to grasp because he has such low self-esteem. The real action begins after being caught by spiders and wood-elves, when they reach their destination, Lonely Mountain, the home of the dragon. On the mountain, to sneak into the dragon’s lair, Bilbo puts on a magic ring that turns him invisible; he speaks to the dragon for a short time and gets him to show the underside of his stomach.
