Growth and the development of Canada¡¯s politics and foreign affairs have also made Canada a more independent country. Canada¡¯s economy at the beginning has been controlled by its two main trading partners, but as the twentieth century progressed, Canada¡¯s economy got better and more independent. Domestic issues,such as the changing of the Canadian flag, have shown that Canada is not ruled by the British or any other countries. The achievement of Canada¡¯s independence was in all aspects through the twentieth century. From the early days of settlers arriving to colonize Canada, this country was ruled by those who sought to expand. As the new century came, the 20th century, joyfulness spread through the country. It was the century of hope and independence. Over the many years of the twentieth century, Canada has matured tremendously from a nation ruled and governed by the British to a nation that is independent. From the courageous and brave soldiers that fought in the battlefields of the wars to the changing of the Canadian flag, Canada¡¯s independence grew from nothing to the independence that Canada has today.
