... (page 98). Although at the beginning of the story Gatsby had not seen Daisy in five years but he dreamed up his perfect image of her, and to himself and his delusions she was perfect. George Wilson is a man who in my opinion is very much like Mr. Jay Gatsby. George Wilson owns a garage in the Valley of Ashes, "a fantastic farm where ashes grow like wheat into ridges and hills and grotesque gardens, where ashes take the forms of houses and chimneys and rising smoke," (page 27), here he lives with his wife Myrtle Wilson. George Wilson, "was a blonde, spiritless man, anemic and faintly handsome," (page29). The reason I say that George is so much like Gatsby is because he too is in love in the same way that Gatsby is in love. George thinks that his wife is perfect and he would do anything for her, when myrtle demand of him, "get some chairs why don't you so somebody can sit down," (page31), Wilson immediately did it, "he was his wife's man and not his own," (page 144). Both Wilson and George want to give the women they love the whole world, although one difference is that Wilson is not willing to do this through illegal means like Gatsby does, I believe he takes pride in making what little money he has honestly. There is something else that these two men also have in common, the women they love are both in love with another man, in fact they're both in love with the same man, Tom Buchannon. Daisy of course loves this man because she is married to him, although for awhile she was reconsidering this love for Tom until she found out how Gatsby made his money. Myrtle Wilson had been cheating on her husband for quite sometime and had grown to love her lover, Tom Buchannon. In the end the love that these two women had for Tom led to the death of both George and Wilson. Well here's how it all went down. When Daisy, Gatsby, Tom, Jordan, and Nick all drove to New York Tom and Gatsby had an argument about Daisy, ""Your wife doesn't love you," said Gatsby quietly. "She's never loved you. She loves me,"" (page 137), this is just one of the many things said that day. As Daisy and Gatsby were driving his car back from new York that day Daisy hit Myrtle with Gatsby's car, "her left breast was swinging lose like a flap and there was no need to listen for the heart beneath," (page 145...
