The Mezzo-pianos are light and inoffensive, with no real crescendos to throw the composition into furore, or to give it too much passion, for that matter. The lower register instruments, the ones that usually give depth and emotional impact to a piece are understated almost to the to the point of not existing, managing only to keep some regularity at hand. The instrumental combination of oboe, French horn, violin and trumpets gives the minuet something of a bell-like clarity. There is redemption for the 33rd,it comes in the form of the trio section, where the tempo changes, exhibiting a far darker mien to the world with its lower register depth, and more dependence on the support of the kettle drums, lower register strings and low winds.
