Happiness and Success

...ness and success. Behind the first door lies a future in which I obtain neither happiness nor success. My choices will lead me to an unfulfilling career and unsatisfying personal relationships. Such a future might include a job which is not challenging and the responsibilities of a young family creating financial and personal difficulties. Behind the second door is happiness or success, but not both. Happiness depends upon meaningful personal relationships and the ability and freedom to pursue my ambitions, whatever they may be. For example, I could be perfectly happy living out of a suitcase while traveling the continents. Success, on the other hand, is measured by my ability to set goals which I value and to achieve these goals as best I can. For example, I enjoy analysis and debate and may choose to pursue a career in law. In this situation, I would judge my success on my ability to use my talents and establish a stable law career.
