Hamlet’s Tragic Rise and Triumphant Downfall

Hamlet, like most influential individuals has little privacy and is subject to public ridicule. Hamlet’s uncertainty and doubt is his tragic flaw throughout the play. He doesn’t know whether or not to believe the apparitions of his father’s ghost. Even when Hamlet begins to realize the truth he is reluctant to get revenge on his uncle. His tragic flaw of uncertainty and doubt is brought about again when he cannot decide when or how to get his revenge. His uncertainty and doubt indirectly lead to his downfall, causing him to become hesitant in taking action. Revenge is like a reflex of human nature. This play is based on Hamlet’s quest for revenge. Revenge for his father’s murder plagues young Hamlet’s mind and becomes the sole purpose in his life. The thirst for revenge becomes the foundation of his madness, deception, and corruption. Hamlet’s emotions are pulled apart by despair, a broken heart, and need for vengeance. Ordinary people face the same obstacles Hamlet is presented with. The death of a loved one brings about despair in every human as well as it does to Hamlet. When Ophelia and Hamlet are forbidden to be together his heart is broken. In addition, he is eager to get revenge on his uncle, like any individual would after being presented with the same situation.
