You might say why, in these times, with America just on the brink of war, and patriotic Americans ready to pull the trigger everywhere, would you advocate such a, for lack of a better term, brainless bill? Well ill tell you why. In a study done last year by the TCHIA(Texas Concealed Handgun License Instructor Association), “The average male Texan who is 21 years or older is 7.7 times more likely to be arrested for the violent crimes of murder, rape, robbery, and assault than the average male CHL holder” (TCHIA). The rate for non-violent crimes for males in Texas is even higher than that, coming in at an alarming 18 times more likely the a Texas male with a CHL. In the same study, women in Texas were also included; the results were similar to the male population with violent crimes coming in at 7.5 times more likely and non-violent crimes coming in at 13 times more likely to be coming by someone not holding a CHL. In the course of the four years the study focused on, which was 1996 through 2000, not one male or female for that matter, CHL holder was arrested for negligent manslaughter. Why not let these people out in public with their weapons? By fighting for their right to protect themselves they are, in a way, protecting you. A...
