...keep “high risk people” from obtaining guns. These “high risk people” are people who are considered dangerous in owning a gun by authorities. Most of these people are drug addicts, alcoholics, insane or unstable people, and criminals. The Brady Bill was passed in 1993 to make people wait five days for a background check before purchasing a firearm. For some states the waiting period is even longer. The second main purpose of the laws was to keep “high risk guns” from people. “High risk guns” are automatic guns, assault weapons, or semiautomatic firearms with an extremely fast rate of fire. Those guns need to be kept away from the public so that teenagers don’t use those in schools because those guns are made for mass shooting. The NRA an Association that was founded in 1871 to support gun rights for the public and they have been doing so ever since. In the 2nd Amendment it says: “A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Though the Supreme Court said that most gun laws did not contain to the 2nd Amendment. The is not just for trying to get people guns it encourages people to participate in various shooting sports, hunting, and sharpshooting. The NRA is not bad it is also against the irresponsible shooting and handling of firearms. Guns are a proven method of self-defense. It is proven that victims that use a gun in self-defense have a lower chance of being injured or having the crime completed. I believe their should be restrictions on firearms. Many of the laws out there now are extremely necessary and should be pushed, but it is your right to possess firearms. There is nothing wrong with owning firearms as long as the people who own them are responsible. The problem is some of the people that own firearms are irresponsible, and there needs to be more laws to restrict criminals from owning and getting access to guns. If the government could only fig...
