...ke out at the empress’s apartment in the palace one night due to her maid of honor being careless. Gulliver immediately went to the palace to help put the fire out. There were buckets the size of thimbles to extinguish the fire but it was too violent. Gulliver thought about using his coat but left it at home being in a rush to arrive at the palace. He remembered that he had drank some wine and had not relieved himself of it yet, so he thought it would be an excellent source to put out the fire. This was how the fire was extinguished. The empress was disgusted by the way Gulliver dealt with the situation and moved to the other side of the palace. She stated not to repair the buildings that she lived in for her use and that she had no choice but to take revenge upon Gulliver. Gulliver knew the laws of the palace in which one of them was to not make water in the precincts of the palace. Gulliver hoped his majesty would understand that he had good intentions of how he dealt with the fire and did service to his majesty. In this incident Gulliver feels like he did well by extinguishing the fire, that is important not how it was extinguished. Again, Gulliver is left feeling guilty on not pleasing the town, the empress, and especially his majesty. The treasurer’s wife was very friendly to Gulliver and frequently visited Gulliver with her sister, daughter, and acquaintances. But there were rumors around the town saying that the treasurer’s wife went to Gulliver’s house privately. When Gulliver was informed with this information he stated the only person that has ever visited him privately at his home was his friend Reldresal and he came by due to his majesty’s orders. Gulliver could not believe that this rumor was being said. Later on the treasurer made up with his wife but did not do the same with Gulliver. This is where Gulliver realizes that his majesty is losing credit for him. One event after another makes his majesty disappointed in him. Gulliver knows that the friendship he has earned with his majesty has been destroyed, and he feels the repercussions of it. His good friend Reldresal visits Gulliver one night. He informs Gulliver that his majesty has declared impeachment on him. His majesty and his council thought of many ways to kill him but thought it would bring too many diseases and harm to the Lilliputians due to his size. But Reldresal compromises with the council and they agreed to the lowest punishment, which was the loss ...
