...oleum distillates, a soft rag, and of course a new set of strings. First you would need to loosen the strings up so they don’t snap at you when you cut or unwind them. Once this is done, you can then proceed to take them off by either pulling them out of their individual tuning machines, or by cutting them and doing the same. Once they have been removed and thrown out or recycled, you can start polishing the neck of your guitar and dusting between the pickups. Use the wood polish with petroleum distillates on the fretboard and on the back of the neck if the wood doesn’t have a laminate coating, such as rosewood. Usually maple will have a coating and does not need to be polished. After cleaning, you can begin stringing. When restringing, it is very important that you know the gauge of your old strings and the gauge of the ones you are about to put on. If they are different you would need to adjust the tension of your bridge accordingly, but for this demonstration, I will assume they are the same.
