Another thing that interested me was the fact that the clocks and Miss Havisham’s watch were stopped at twenty to nine. A reason for that could be that there was a power shortage and the clocks stopped. With the clocks stopped, she might have adjusted her watch to the same time too. On the other hand, it might be that Miss Havisham just wants time to stop/ Maybe she is tired of living, so she wishes her life would just come to a screeching halt. Finally, the reason the clocks and the watch were stopped could be because 8:40 was an important time in her life, and she wants to remember it.
