...there just don't have moeny for extras." Sensing a need, the Bruckbauers decided to take action. Brian got the ball rolling back in his hometown of Fort Collins, Colrado. He collected 23 used coccer balls from members of his soccer club. The Bruckbauer family returned to Jamaica the next year and distributed the balls to the poor kids. "the balls were gone in three days," Brian says. "the kids were so excited to get them." That response inspired the family to do more. In 1999, Brian asked for donations via a Fort Collins soccer pubication. His parents got the support of local businesses. Soon, they collected more then 200 balls and pumps. When the Bruckbauers went back to Jamaica in January 2000, they distributed the equipment to various schools and soccer teams. "That way, more kids could use them," Brian says. The Bruckbauers now receive donations of soccer equipment from all over America. One Colorado Team of middle schoolers recently held a fund-raiser, earning dollars for each goal...
