...ent of creating a stable and good environment, but it also gives Man a sense of dignity and worth because of this active role in the fate of the Earth. God gives these blessings to Adam in exchange for his spiritual following which Adam gladly accepts. At the beginning of Genesis, there is a distinguishing difference between what God has directly created and what God has indirectly created. The beginning of Genesis starts with God directly creating the Heavens and the Earth. The separation of light into night and day is also a direct creation of God. The reason for God directly creating these forms is that they cannot be disputed and are stable. There is no question about the idealness of Heaven because it is something which cannot be seen. Heaven has different characteristics based on personal beliefs and personal beliefs can never be disputed. The Earth as an entity is too perfect to be random which further justifies Gods direct creation. God left all things which are changing and have a possibility of error to indirect creation. God enlisted the help of the Earth and Waters in order to create the perfect Man, in the image of God. God enlists the help of these beings in order to create a more well-rounded and less biased Man. This is also done because a perfect image of God would be without error and man has error. A Man without error would be a God in himself. This theory of indirect creation of Man is proved by the statement, “Let us make man in our image; after our likenesses. Another theme throughout the book of Genesis is the relationship between Man and Nature. God gives Man dominion over nature but he enlists Man to keep nature good in the eyes of God. This shows that Man is in control of Nature as long as he keeps nature in good standing the way God intended Nature to be. This is a possible reason God allows Nature to unleash its wrath on Man for the disrespect Man gives Nature. Overall, if man acts in good nature towards Nature, he is fulfilling the intention of God and Nature should not unleash its wrath on Man. This is more profound in the Hymn to the Nile as the worshippers make a sacrifice to the Nile in order to purge mankind of evil. Within the Garden of Eden there are two trees which hold a significant purpose for Man. The tree of life is a symbol of Gods love for Man. This tree further illustrates God as a generous provider because he is giving man eternal life in exchange for spiritual obedience. The tree of knowledge is also very symbolic. The tree of knowledge will give its bearer the knowledge between good and evil. Because Adam was created in the perfect image of God there is no need to have the knowledge of evil since Man is inherently good. The death which God talks to Adam about is a symbolic death of the ideal man in the image of God. When God had the perfect Earth he decided that Adam was in need of a companion. From the rib of Adam, Eve was formed. This is also very symbolic of the hierarchy of men over women. Genesis further portrays the status of women as being lower because it was Eve who disobeyed God and beguile...
