Glider Car

...ince dryfoam has a lower density, and is made from a flocculent spongy material, going along with the styrofoam balls was a better decision because it would improve the gliders aerodynamics. Like I previously mentioned, I cut the wooden stick in half with really strong sissors. Then I made two shallow holes on two opposite sides of the dryfoam with a pen. I made these holes extra-shallow because i wanted to make sure my mesurements were correct and so that the holes are positioned in the exact same spot on both sides of the dryfoam. When I was sure of my work, I proceeded to slowly push the wooden stick through the hole until it came through on the opposite side. I did this with both the front and back sets of holes. When the wooden sticks were in place, I held onto the stick and spun the body around like a rodeo cowboy. The friction that went on between the dryfoam body and the wooden stick, shaved off some of the dryfoam inside so that the wheels would be able to turn with ease. After that, I pulled the sticks out of the body and proceeded to make holes in the styrofoam balls. Like I did before, I made shallow dimples in the balls to make sure that they were even. After going over it a few times, I pushed the stick into the ball until it came out on the other side. I repeated this for each wheel. After, I removed the wheels from the wooden sticks. Since I wanted to make my glider look like a present, I had to wrap the dryfoam body in wrapping paper before I could proceed. This actually helps the glider. Since the dryfoam body is so light and hollow, decorating it with wrapping paper actually decreased the air resistance. This process was much more difficult than I figured. Since the dryfoam was such a friable material, masking tape or even ductape wouldn't hold. I ended up having to use a gluegun for the packaging process. When I finnished getting the silver wrapping paper securely around the body, I decorated it some more by adding ribbon aound the figure and a fancy bow on top. When I fninished the decorating, all I had left to do...
