... in to the wrong hands. People who we trust the most with secrets end up being the ones who tell. No matter how much trust is in a person, that person has an ‘evil’ side-a side that can’t be trusted. Knowledge is a key source for power, which many are not afraid to use if they have the sources for the information. If a person like Hitler knew about genetic engineering, he could use the genetic engineering to create a super-human being. Creating a person that doesn’t get sick, has genetically improved muscles, and also the ability to see, hear, run, and live a healthier life would make an excellent army. Eventually this so called trustworthy person could become a dictator. Even though the scientific breakthroughs are very interesting, it is important to stop the genetic engineering before it gets take to far in the wrong hands. (Cloning) Social gatherings are already a big part of people’s life. However, genetic engineering will create more stress on the people. Society is divided in to categories unintentionally that resulted from our genetic makeup and our surroundings influences. Once people alter themself with genetic engineering they won’t fit in the society the same way as before. This will create unnecessary social problems. According to Jeremy Rifkin, president of the Foundation on Economic Trends ,”Race, religion, language, and nationality are all well-worn methods of categorization and victimization. Now with the emergence of the genetic revolution, society entertains the prospect of a new and more serious form of segregation.” Those who can afford it, can get the ‘superior’ gene traits. They will have the social and economical advantages available for themself and for their future children. However, this leaves the rest in a social pit. While trying to get out of our segregated ways of life, we ventured our self into an even bigger segregation trap. (Rifkin) God is the creator of all life forms, and with that gift of life he gave us the mind capability to make our own decisions. It is our decision if we want to follow him or not, however, God desires us to follow his will with our actions and thoughts. Destroying our bodies and playing God’s creator role is not in God’s will. God wants us to cherish and love our self for who we are and not who we want to be. Genetic engineering is degrading to the moral values of many people. The constant news coverage and gossip about cloning are making the best Christians lose their moral values. The more and more they see this news coverage, the more they allow demons into their thoughts. It is the demons who tell the people that it is ok for them to believe certain ways about certain things. God created everyone with a soul, however, many question whether or not clone would have a soul. The clone may lack a feeling of identity and possibly feel vengeance towards their creator (not God). It is morally wrong to make anyone feel like they are not a person, even if they don’t have a soul.(Kass) Also, everyone was created equally in the eyes of God, therefore no one person has the right or the authority over another person to choose their destiny by creating their genetic makeup.Rifkin adds more incite to the topic as “To whom, in this new era, would we entrust the authority to decide what is a good gene that should be added to the gene pool and what is a bad gene that should be eliminated? Should we entrust the federal government with that authority? Corporations? The university scientists? The way I believe the clone should be made with the genetic engineering may disagree with the way another person. Personal preference is the key factor in the way the clone should be made. Genetic engineering should not be allowed to take place because it is possible the genetically created humans could someday overpower the natural humans. It is true that genetic engineering could be used to make super-human like people- to perfect them, which could lead to destruction if not given to the right person. The genetically engineered people will be the ones who survive in the world where only the strongest survive. These genetic engineered are made to be more powerful, smart, and useful. That is the purpose of the genetic engineering. Soon after they are born, they will take over the media, music, sports, business, and everything else. We are striving to make them perfect, but how are the natural humans suppose to compete with the perfect? Our jobs, homes, and lives will be over run by the perfect beings. In other words, we will being to destroy human race unless genetic engineering stops. It would not be a instant change in the way things are now, but a very slow and gradual pace so that we would barely notice what is happening to society.
