Gallipoli and All Quiet
...ionally fast runners and their friendship began because of a race that they both attended. Archy and Frank both decide to enlist in the war. Unlike Paul and his friends in, “All Quiet”, Archy and Frank don’t have the admiration from their parents. Archy’s parents don’t even know that he has gone to war. The similarity between these two pieces is also evident because they both show the mishaps and uselessness of war. In “Gallipoli”, the part where they are in gunfire, the main leaders watches were off by 7 minutes, which caused many deaths! Something so simple turned into something huge. In “All Quiet”, Paul realizes that war is not something to be idolized because it takes many lives; so therefore it’s useless. Another similarity between the book and the movie is that they both show what soldiers are exposed to. For example, in the book and the movie they both show how nonchalant it is to get a woman.
