Another aid that is used is the apparent sympathy of Brooke during the interview with Warren; the interviewer influences the audience greatly. The audience use Brooke as a role model to what they should feel and what views they should have. If Brooke is compassionate to Warren, the audience, to an extent, will be compassionate as well. This leaves the audience concentrating on one side of the truth, rather that taking in different viewpoints. The audience don’t even think about the Thai people and their beliefs on drugs, nor do they recognise that what Warren did was knowingly violating the laws of the country. The audience also neglects the fact that Warren knew about the punishment for the crime he committed, yet he took the risk. One other thing tat the audience discounts is the fact that Brooke may be lying, as shown after the interview when Brooke does her noddies. This text resembles Frontline by using the same techniques and character profiles, for example, Mike is already portrayed as an ignorant man who is self centred and single minded.
