freshman year

...t tomorrow I am going to get on this whole new plan of working out and eating right. I still haven’t really started it yet, but one time I ate two bananas and drank a glass of milk in morning! It’s sad, I know. As a student, it hard to avoid from drinking, smoking, and behaving “inappropriately”. We all just want to make good grades and have a good time. I want to do that, and also take care of my self at the same time. Perhaps that will be in my plan for next semester. I feel like I have had a good first semester, but I know it could have been much better. I made some really bad choices, and those things are just going to have to become learning experiences. Next semester I am going to be much better. I know now the things I can do, and I definitely know the things I can’t do. My plans for next semester are to keep going to most of my classes, and not blow anything off. I want to get in shape, eat better, and quit doing the thing that only hurt me. I would also like to get more involved with the school, make some more money, and learn to grow a little more so you can’t tell I’m a freshman from half a mile away. I am planning to take an HSES class on weight lifting next semester so I can get into better shape without needing to get into a gym somewhere. It would also be good for me because I would basically be forcing my self to go lift weights every week, and I won’t be able to get lazy and just avoid doing it. I am not exactly sure how I can plan to eat much better, mainly because healthy food is expensive, and fast food is cheep and everywhere. What I know I can do is stop smoking, drink less, and work out. That is the most logical option I have at the moment. I would like to get a job some time so I could make more money, but I’m still not sure if that is a possibility. I tried doing that in high school, but I found my self too tired to focus on school as much. School is my number one priority. There are many part time events that I could do to make a little money here and there every now and then. I think that is something that I would have to do, and not commit to a job where I would have to work at all the time. The house I live at always has things for people to do where they can work and make some money. As for school, I know the system of it so much better now. I feel like I wasn’t prepared enough to know exactly how everything worked before I got here. In high school you can just sit back and relax for the most part, and the school does everything for you. At collage, you have to know what is going on the next day, the next week, the next month. Taking tests and writing papers was extremely easy in high school. It isn’t the hardest thing ever now, but there are more papers and tests to do. The amount of work has just increased a lot. By expecting that next semester, I will be able to get ahead on my work. I learned that talking to your teachers can help out a lot. By talked to the teachers early on in the year, they will usually work with me, and help me out. I think by Talking to my English teacher alone improved my grade by more than a letter grade. Next semester I plan to go to my classes, study for my tests, and ask my teachers to work with me if they can, to make sure I can make that 4.0 I have always been going for. I know I can’t predict the future, but if down the line there is a significant other for me somewhere, I think it is possible for me to make the time for that now. It would have been too hard this semester, going into a fraternity and not expecting my daily routine. Now that I have that stuff resolved, the only problem is being able to find a girl that actually likes me! Things should also be better next semester because I will be starting it off with the friends I made from first semester. It’s no longer a strange place to me, I know the campus well, and I am learning my way around Laurence better every week. I am really looking forward to next semester. I will no longer be a pledge in the fraternity, so I will have more time to my self, and do the things I want to do. I will work my time out so I can get most of the things I want to do done. It means a lot to me and my family that I get good grades, and I am planning to be successful in life. The fear of failure is one really big thing that keeps me going all the time. I am hoping that it will stick with me forever, and I will never feel like quitting. If I can stick to my planned routine, and not get too sidetracked, I will have no big problems next semester, or the rest of my collage days.
