As the students turn sixteen they often continue to stay in school for another two years, but if they don’t work as hard as they can and don’t do as well as they are capable they have to repeat the course for another full year. The whole goal of the French education is to give the students general culture from ancient and modern humanities, their whole goal isn’t to get the students ready for jobs. About thirty percent of the students whom pass the second part of the “baccalaureat” continue and move up to universities.
