Fredrick Henry-A Farewell to Arms

...really frightening images of someone who had died a painful death. Frederic and I had both experienced this. The images do not go away. Last year, my friend’s father was diagnosed with brain cancer. He went under radiation treatment, kemotherapy and pain in general. He had terrible headaches, could not eat half the time and if he did, it would come right back up. I could not stand watching him in so much pain. I would visit him in the hospital as he was getting worse and worse. He died a very painful death. I still remember the painful images of my friend’s father and how the cancer just ate away at his body. Frederic Henry falls in love with an English nurse that he meets during the story. Her name is Catherine Barkley. When he meets her, he discovers a love deep inside of him that he never knew he had. He devoted his entire life to his love. He begins to feel more alive and to actually have reason in life, unlike earlier in the story where he felt very detached from life and war. I have never personally ever been in love. But I feel that the love Frederic and Catherine have between one another is so beautiful. I hope to find someone and devote myself to him the way that Frederic devoted himself to Catherine. Although I have not found love like Frederic has, I hope I do. Towards the end of A Farewell to Arms, Catherine becomes pregnant from Frederic. Catherine is in labor and is taken to a hospital. Frederic stays with her at the hospital. Her contractions become very painful. Her pelvis is too narrow for the baby to fit through, so she needs a Caeesarian section. The doctors take out the baby which had strangled to death on its umbilical...
