Forshadowing in a good man is hard to find by flannery O'Connor

Also June Star makes the statement ,“She wouldn’t stay ay home for a million bucks. She has to go everywhere we go.” (p. 1884) At the end of the story and looking back this statement by the granddaughter tells me that when they die she will be dying also. The foreshadowing of the families death is given to us when “ they pass a large cotton field with five or six graves fenced in the middle of it”( p 1885), and including the baby, there are six people traveling. I think the reason it says five or six graves is because at the end we aren’t very sure if The Misfit is going to actually kill her. In the next statement “Look at the graveyard! That was the old family burying ground. That belonged to the plantation.” the grandmother says “Where’s the plantation? John Wesley asked. “Gone with the Wind,” she says (p 1885).By her making the reference as the plantation being “gone with the wind” foreshadows what will happen to the family at the end of the story. When the family pulls in to get something to eat at Red Sammy’s Barbecue and Sammy’s wife is referred to as being “burnt-brown” (p 1886)I think that the name of the restaurant and the color are foretelling evil, and after they drive off the grandmother falls asleep and wakes up “outside of Toombsboro” (p 1887) the name of the town suggest that they are going to die. After they have the accident, the children’s mother is sitting in a “red gutted ditch”(p1889) and they all eventually end up sitting in the ditch and “the road was about ten feet above”( p1889), the color and depth of the ditch makes reference to death and being buried .
