Sumarry Ted and Alex had to go to Beijing to report news and after they arrived at the capital city, they met a guide named Lao-Xu, who directed them to the Beijing Hotel, also they met Eddie Nowlan. Alex began observing Tian-An-Men-square, and interviewing some of the students who were protesting and one night, Ted and Eddie left to observe the square, but Alex did not go with them, so Alex and Lao-Xu went out to see and observe the situation at the city. When they arrived the square they saw PLA soldiers shooting students and killing them, which was the People's Liberation Army. They stood on the curb, they watched students getting shot, Lao-Xu became provoked and ran out into the middle of the street and started yelling at the PLA soldiers, suddenly one of the soldiers raised his gun and shot Lao-Xu several times. While Alex was running away, he had been shot, and he started to feel dizzy and he wearily fell down to the ground. Suddenly, Alex had been taken by some Chinese, and in the house he met a woman named Nai Nai, after he met a girl named Xin-Hua, Alex became a friend. Later, Alex meets Xin-Hua's friends. With the help of Xin-Hua and her friends, Alex devises a plan to get to the Canadian Embassy. Once they arrived at the Canadian embassy gates they could not get in, so they headed for the airport. On the way to the airport, a PLA soldier forced him into a car, which took him to the airport where he was united with his father. They went back to Canada, and they discovered that Alex was carrying a camcorder and recording all the things that happened while Alex, Ted, and Eddie were in Beijing. 6. Self-Knowledge I have been in Canada for 2 years, and still I encounter lots of difficulties living here. As well as the protagonist in the book called, ˇ§Forbidden Cityˇ¨, Alex has similar difficulties with my experiences. First, the location where I moved and Alex moved is different. I moved from Asia to Western; however, Alex moved from Western to Asia. Thus each of us can have some different difficulties, but the same thing is that both of us are experiencing totally different culture from where each of us born. When I came to Canada, I did not know anything about Canada not even about Toronto. It was just a new starting point of my life. For instance, the weather of the country, the way of transportation or the government taxes system. I did not have any idea about my life in Canada, so I just tried to experience the new city: Toronto. By experiencing the city by my self, I could get better and better knowing about Canada. Also Alex encountered lots of problems in his new country: China. Same as me, Alex tried to experience by him self and he realized the Chinese life little bit and little bit. Another problem that Alex and me have is the language problem. My mother language is Korean and I came to Canada. In Canada, people are using English, so I need to know how to speak English. When I came to Canada I knew only few English words, so I practice listening and speaking English ...
