It is May but heavy snow is falling in the mountains, and the band has to be aware that they may be discovered since the fascist cavalry patrolling the mountains could use the snow to follow their tracks. Jordan kills one rider, and the group avoids detection by the others. But a band of their allies, led by a deaf man named El Sordo is bombed and killed. Jordan sends a man named Andres to General Golz’s headquarters, hoping that his new information will cancel the attack, but the report is delivered too late. The morning before the attack, Pablo disappears with a lot of Jordan's supplies, but he returns with extra soldiers just in time to help fight off an attack on the group.
