...nd all the information published is approved by the ruler. There is a top- down flow of information and is used to maintain the status quo. This form of media usually evolves into a Communist Media. 2) Media imperialism is a one-way flow of information to developing nations. An example of this is when the U.S. exports there movies and T.V. sitcoms such as Friends or Seinfeld to smaller underdeveloped countries such as India. Media imperialism is the imposition of the western culture and values to developing nations. Hegemony is a lot like media imperialism; it is imposing ideas of your media through the media which influences other undeveloped cultures to become much like yours. This expands the influence of an already media powerful country. Cultural imperialism is like hegemony and Media Imperialism, but it more explains how the media is used to through our culture and weaves it into the culture of other underdeveloped countries. It is a phrase used to explain both hegemony and media imperialism but focus more on how our culture influences there. All of these topics together describe the process of cultural imperialism.
