... take some work, but if I keep to the three D’s I know I will be successful. People have a hard time getting motivated to workout because there are so many distractions. I find myself making excuses all the time. For instance, I’ll decide I want to go running; on the way out I walk by the television and see that Everybody Loves Raymond is on so I tell myself that I will watch it then go running. Once the show is over I have no desire to run anymore. Basically, what it boils down to is laziness and a lack of discipline. There are many reasons (excuses) people are not eager to workout. I am too busy or I just don’t have enough time. We can all find a way to make time. People who have children and work have to figure out a way to exercise when their children are with them all the time. A good way to work around that is to get a gym membership with a center for the children. There is a lot of time in the day to workout so we should stop making excuses. Another factor in motivation is people tend to go by the fad when it comes to picking an exercise program. Everyone doesn’t like the same thing. Some people like to run while others like to ride bikes. Do what you enjoy to make working out fun and not a chore and you can accomplish your goals. My goals are to improve my eating habits and I would like to shed a few pounds. Acknowledging what is wrong with my diet is the first step. I can start by calculating how many calories my body needs based on my current weight and activity level. Writing down everything I eat for a couple of days will show me what I need to cut out of my diet or what to add. I can compare what I usually eat to my diet that is consistent with healthy eating. Proper nutrition and regular exercise are necessary if I want to accomplish my goal. Currently, I am not as active as I would like to be. Twice a week I have a body fitness class, which consists of stretching and weight lifting. This is good, but in order to improve my health I need to do more cardiovascular exercises like running or aerobics. Now, I just need to get more disciplined and stick to the plan, dedication.
