...nd appreciate the simple things in life. I am not sure if that was the author’s intention, but if it was, he was successful. Even though our theme was love poems, I found that there were several types of love poems. I enjoyed the readings and hope you did as well. I obtained Henry Constable’s poem from poetry.com, W.H. Auden’s poem from page 687 in the textbook and I have attached Ralph Fletcher’s poem as a separate post so you will be able to read it.“Stop All the Clocks, Cut Off the Telephone”, by W.H. Auden is another poem that grabbed my attention. This is a tragic love poem where the narrator feels her life has no meaning now because her love is dead. The poem is a sonnet because of its regular rhyming pattern and is written in closed form. The author grabs the readers attention right away, not by informing of the man’s death, but by creating an atmosphere of silence and halting of all activities.
