... Child A has a long list of offenses, which showed that he has been in a number of fights in the past. Child B, however, has no proof of fighting on his record. This leads me to the assumption that child A played a big role in starting the fight. Child B was most likely defending himself against child A. The children also know that in my school I do not allow fighting, so they will both be treated equally. I would also have to take into consideration the race of both children. Child B and I are of the same race, so he might think he is going to get some special treatment. On the other hand, Child A might think I am picking on him because he is a different race, but what both the children are going to find out is that I’m going to treat them both the same. I come to the decision to suspend both child A and child B because they were both at fault. When it comes time to reinstate both children back into school, I would invite their parents in for a meeting. I would talk to child A’s parents first because I would probably already know them.
