Experimental Writing
...a different method of writing not tried before. These writers introduced a radical new way of expressing ones self, to be completely honest and tell of the world the way they truly felt about it The first writer I would like to discuss will be Ezra Pound. Born in Hailey, Idaho, Pound originally studied languages at college. Later, deciding college wasn’t for him anymore, he decided to travel Europe. There he worked as a journalist until he published his first book poems entitled “LUME SPENTO”. He was a very controversial writer, so controversial that he was imprisoned in a mental institution for his views. His writings in my view are very deranged in nature. This would be an extremely different side of Williams; locked away. One of his other poems, “The Young Housewife”, is very disturbing. People can interpret this in many different ways, but I believe it is about a man killing his cheating wife with his car. I draw these conclusions from the following last paragraphs: “Then again she comes to the curb to call the ice man, fish man and stands shy, uncorseted, tucking in stray ends of hair, and I compare her to a fallen leaf.” “The noiseless wheels of my car rush with a crackling sound over dried leaves as I bow and pass smil...
