...I had several customers, mostly elderly people. They were fairly picky so I had to do a spectacular job. If there were any weeds around the house or yard I had to cut them with my weed whacker. A big part of mowing lawns was the end product. I made sure that the driveways, walkways, and sidewalks were swept. I also had to remove any grass clumps on the lawn that my mower would make. These prevented grass from growing in those spots due to inadequate sunlight. I have mowed lawns for probably thirty different people. I am now almost twenty years old and I still mow lawns in the summertime. It is one of my favorite pastimes during the summer season. To this day, I love the smell of freshly cut grass. Mowing lawns is not as complex as my job at the Millinocket Foundry and Machine Company. Here I worked as a janitor. I started by cleaning the managers offices, doing tasks such as taking the garbage, dusting, vacuuming, and washing floors. Next I would go to one of the four steel fabrication shops and clean the washrooms, locker rooms, and bathrooms. This was the dirtiest part of the job. There were grease and metal shavings everywhere. Doing this job gave me great janitorial experience, you know just in case I needed to fall back on it. Before I knew it, I was being asked to do other jobs like painting, more lawn mowing, and vehicle washing. I even operated some fork-lift. I will always remember this job because it truly was hard work. The final job experience that I have had is my current job. I work for Hannaford Brothers Shop N’ Save. I have worked for the company since 2000. My first position was a customer service clerk. My main duties were to provide good customer service, bag groceries and offer carryout, clean bathrooms, hey that sounds familiar, and to do other duties along those lines. In 2001 I became a cashier. I failed the cashier test twice but as they say, “The third time is a charm.” I got an instant pay increase and continued to work towards advancement. I r...
