Evil Triumphs

...ill inevitably lead to punishment. Like the quote, Macbeth attempted to destroy everyone that posed a threat to his power as king. In the end, his evil actions came back to him and led to his death. There are many examples which symbolize Macbeth’s actions of evil. One of which occurred when Macbeth tried to wash the blood off his hands after killing Duncan. With his hands covered in blood, the water symbolized his attempt of trying to wash away the guilt he felt after the murder. This paved the way for future actions taken by Macbeth to hold on to his power and control as king, all of which resulting similarly. Irony was another literary element used to prove the statement. Duncan was king of Scotland, not to mention Macbeth’s cousin. Macbeth’s need for being king strived him to kill his own flesh and blood just to get what he wanted. In this case evil did triumph because Macbeth was successful in getting the crown. However his reign would be restless and would not last long because of his overconfidence.
