It should come as no surprise to anyone that most women have a real problem with the way beer is advertised. The beer brewing industry has an obsession with making beer drinkers appear as the main object of a beautiful women’s affection if they were to have that particular beer in their hand. Sorry men, but that is usually not the case. The most outrageous beer advertisements are definitely found on the television. The most recent controversial commercial, comes from Budweiser where two women are wrestling with one another in a fountain wearing close to nothing, and somehow this is meant to promote this certain brand of beer, in an abstract yet forward way. It is sending the wrong signals to not only females but males as well. It degrades women and puts unrealistic, false views in the minds of males. This problem has a very easy solution, if advertisements, whether it is a commercial or magazine advertisement were to have certain regulations on what was appropriate and what was not, there would be no controversy over advertisements lacking ethics. Beer advertisements are only a taste of a genre of ads that misconstrue the truth. Beer advertisements need to have regulations along the lines of the messages they send, many of them make connotations to women referring to their inferiority to men as well.
