... in the deserts of Arizona, or the Aurora Borealis in Northern Minnesota, it forces me to think what life would be like if we didn’t have the internet, if everything wasn’t digitalized, or upgraded. Being in the Boyscouts has contributed a great deal of my spanning the country, and quite a bit of my outdoors knowledge. Being a Boyscout today, is completely different than fifty-years ago. Fifty-years ago young males would wear their uniforms to school on days that they had activities. But now if you wore a uniform to school you would most likely get beat up or made fun of. Sounds funny doesn’t it, making fun of somebody who participates in an organization that basically stands for everything American. It really doesn’t bother me if someone made fun of me for being a Boyscout. They’re basically making fun of me for being more privileged than themselves. That may be the problem with young ones these days, they get too caught up in the fast pace footrace of this digital era. I think it would help if more parks and nature trails would be instilled in every community. If today’s teens were more affiliated with the outdoors, then it would assure that in the future conservation of natural resources would increase dramatically. If you don’t know what true nature is like, or haven’t witnessed Old Faithful launch streams of hot water hundreds of feet in the air, then why would you want to save it.
