In the stanza two, line one, dawn is the “rebirth” symbol; it starts a description of the joy the Magi experience after the hardships they endure on the journey. He described the place as “satisfactory”. He also describes the setting in a more positive light than earlier in the poem. The third stanza contains the climax. The Magi are stating that even throughout the harsh journey that they endured, they would do it again for Christ. This journey is the “death” and “rebirth” patterns that Eliot so commonly uses in his writings. This death and rebirth is Eliot’s way of reaching reality or enlightenment. In Eliot’s writings, he commonly uses symbolism. He uses the word dawn, which symbolizes renewal, rebirth, or a new beginning. He also wrote about a white horse galloping away in the meadow. This white horse symbolizes the North Star or the Star of David, and the way to Jesus. Dark was also used in the poem. Darkness symbolizes being lost and implies unawareness of the surroundings.
