In a work area you face the danger of something soaring threw the air and hitting you in the face, if you are wearing eye protection you eyes will not be damaged. Loose clothing should be taken off or fastened to a safe length. Loose clothing could get caught on something or around open flame it could catch fire. Open toed shoes can never be worn in the work area. If something was to be dropped on your foot it could cause a lot of pain. Long hair must be fastened or covered. This is to avoid your hair getting stuck in something and having it pulled out. You must always wash your hands with soap and water after working with basically any materials. Something like solder appears to be safe, but solder contains lead and if you do not wash your hands after using solder you could acquire lead poisoning. Loose jewelry, like long hair and loose clothing, must not be worn in work areas either. They too can get caught in tools and again could cause you damage. You should always keep your immediate work area clean. If it is not kept clean you could damage your tools or harm yourself. Floors and walk ways should always be kept clean. If materials are obstructing walk ways it could cause you or someone else to tripped and be hurt. Materials should not be projecting over the edge of a work bench. Say a soldering iron’s wire is leaning over an edge and someone trips, if they were to grab for the wire on their way down they could be severely burned because of that wire being over the edge.
