Teens are not afraid to enjoy themselves. They are merely sacrificing some enjoyments in the present to secure their future. Securing ones future is putting in time, effort, and having a vision. At this critical stage of our lives, we are beginning to take our future more seriously, as crazy and as outrageous as it may seem. We get feed many ideas from people telling us “you are young, enjoy your life, make mistakes”. For the most part we are having fun, make mistakes, but we also we get down to business when necessary. Timmerman states, “ Never do they realize that they are trading precious time for the cheap tinsel of money and cars”. She makes a point that time is precious but that is exactly why one must not waste their time trying to catch the enjoyment of the moment. The moment will pass but the future awaits us. Life is not easy, money does not grow on trees, and bills do not pay themselves. This is reality, this not some fear or phobia of enjoyment, just plain reality.
