Dualism VS. Monism

This belief has been espoused by many of the great philosophers, such as Locke, Berkely, and Hume. Dualsim, unlike monism, is the belief that mind and brain are separate. Views on what mind is made of vary greatly, from existing on a “mental plane” to being nothing more than particles in motion. It is harder to point to scientific evidence supporting this belief, but supporters of this view, such as Descartes and Cabinis, would point to phenomena such as ghosts, out of body experiences, and perhaps even fire walkers as support of dualism. A substantial argument of this view is the lack of shared reality even among only two individuals. For example, two people could witness the exact same event, but then their recollections would not be identical. If mind and brain are one, how could these discrepancies exist?
