...the causes of drug use are peer pressure, and depression. Also, kids that hate their lives believe that drugs will solve their problems so they become addicted. Peer pressure is a leading cause because their friends or fellow students pressure kids into trying drugs. They are told that they’re “not cool unless they try drugs” or that they are “chicken”. If we do not solve this problem, the teen death rate could increase. Students will get lower grades and will not be able to make the right choices. This could happen because of bad judgment. There might also be more teen pregnancies because of people under the influence of drugs. A possible solution to this problem is more anti-drug education. This can be done by creating a D.A.R.E program for older children, or by just having assemblies with guest speakers. Some of the guest speakers could be D.A.R.E officers, regular officers, rehab workers, and doctors. People have been addicted to drugs and found help can also help by telling their stories and how drugs had affected their lives.
