A person may be offered to try drugs or as a result of seeing everyone around him using drugs, might think that there is nothing wrong with that. In today’s society, there is availability and variety of different drugs. Most common drugs that we all probably heard about and have some knowledge from different sources are: marijuana, LCD, cocaine, ecstasy and heroin. Although they all have different effects, and some are more addictive then the other, their purpose is the same, and it is to escape from conflicts and reality. Most important is that drug use starts from smoking marijuana in most cases, and leads to harder and more dangerous drugs. Here is a personal example of drug use from a teenager, “When I started using, was only on weekends, at parties. I used drugs ‘recreationally’ and therefore thought I had no addiction problem. I used drugs like nicotine, marijuana or LCD to be happy or to have fun. I needed drugs. I kept using drugs: I used drugs like marijuana to fit socially. I had problems in my life, emotionally, that drugs only seemed to solve. Drugs made my problems worse. I started snorting cocaine. I injected heroine into my veins. I almost died. I was addicted.” All drugs are addictive, whether it’s a physical or psychological addiction. Physical addiction is when the body gets addicted to the drug chemicals and is needed for its satisfaction. Drugs like cocaine, ecstasy and heroin are highly addictive. Those drugs are discontinued with withdrawal, the experience of discomfort and stress that follows when the influence of the drug leaves the body. One of the most physically addictive and dangerous drug is heroin. Heroin is injected and sometimes snored. When it’s injected, an individual can get addicted to the drug after doing it as little as three or four times. Therefore, the withdrawal from heroin can cause severe illness and death as a result of the strong physical addiction. Psychological addiction is one of the worst side effects of drug abuse and addiction. It follows with depression, the result of chemical imbalance, environmental influence or both. It causes mood changes, nervous breakdowns, unusual flares of temper and many other side effects.
