Does God exist?
... will without evil is an illogical impossibility. Even though man has the capacity to commit great evil, he also has the capacity to perform great acts of goodness. According to Mackie, God does not eliminate first order evil such as pain because it is a logically necessary component for goods such as sympathy. God could have eliminated second order evils such as cruelty, but to do so would remove freedom of will. If God intervened in every evil, it would erode human responsibility, and the laws of nature. The First Cause We are taught in this day and society that for every effect there is a cause, that there can be no effect without a cause and vice-versa. In addition, we are also taught that the world came into being by way of “The Big Bang”. Now, everyone understands that when one hears a loud Bang! Of some sort that something had to have caused the bang. Does one say, after hearing a bang, Oh that was the Bang? No. One might say, “What was that?”, “What Happened?” or something of that nature. However, we know that it was a bang because we heard it. What we want to know is what caused the bang. A bang doesn’t just come from nowhere; something had to have caused it. However, we are expected to except that one day, out of nowhere, BANG! And here comes the world. Okay, but what we want to know is, “What was that?!” we know what a bang is. However, we also know that a bang has to come from something. Nothingness just doesn’t explode all of a sudden and become something. We are told that there was a bang. An effect. But what was the cause? What caused the effect? Now seeing ...
