Do people make history or does history make people?

... history for themselves. Who knows what kind of history we would study today if Hitler actually took over or if Abe Lincoln was not assassinated. We study history now to learn more about our past and what those people did for us now. History did not make the people because we do not learn what history did for a certain person, but rather what he or she did to be inside this history book. There is absolutely no way that history would exist if there was not the people that make it happen. Imagine if the United States would have lost the Revolutionary War. What would have become of us now, and where would I be? These questions always pop up once in a while. History could be totally changed if a country did not win the war that they were suppose to. Who knows where many people would be and what they would be studying in school if Germany and Austria-Hungary had won WWI. Also, people cannot imagine what life would be like if Hitler and the Germans had won WWII and gained world domination. These are all reasons why people can make and change history. History would be different if there was no United States of America or if there was no Soviet Union. There is so much people can do to make things different. History cannot stop a person from doing what he or she can do, but a person can change what happens in history. Whatever a person does, including wars, can give history a whole different story. There is just endless possibilities if wars were not won for the good cause. A world with no computers, refrigerators, telephones or indoor plumbing would not be a very good place to live. That would have happened if nobody invented such things early on. If fire was not found there would be no light and therefore, no technology. It took fire to make light and light to make electricity. History changes the way we live if anyone did not invent anything. One can go into history if they invent something so useful to the human race.
