...rimination between blacks and whites has become a major concern and a major issue of today society. One of the issues that the movie criticizes about today society is racial discrimination. Racial discrimination has always been part of the American history, and it has been a major problem that many people, of different race, face throughout their life. For instance, the movie Men of Honor criticizes the society for being racial discrimination by presenting the audience, the viewers, with the separation of race within the navy ship. The captain, a white man, want to separate the white crews from the black crews into different group. Each of them, the crews, has their own specific day of doing thing, like swimming and showering, and they could not use the other days; for example, the white on Friday and black on Tuesday. The whites believe that they are superior; and therefore, they should not be with or participate with any activities with the blacks. Throughout this movie, the whites and the blacks have always referred to each others as us and them. They never refer to each other as a crew member of the ship instead of us and them. Another issue that the movie presents in the twentieth and twentieth first century is the issue of job discrimination in the society. Although many laws have passed to stop job discrimination, it is still exist in our society. No matter where we work at, we always see job discrimination bases on race or nationality. For instance, in the movie Men of Honor, when Carl, the main character, applies to join the navy, the captain sends him into the kitchen where he and his king, the blacks, belong instead of sending him where he needs to be, which is being a real navy’s officer.
