differences and similarities of christianity and islam
...et. Muhammed can be thought of as the Jesus of the Muslim religion. Muhammad is the prophet of Allah. Muslims have certain things they have to do and certain things that have to be done for their religion. They first have to make a trip to Mecca at least once in their lifetime. This is a serious spiritual journey that is very important in a Muslim’s life. They have to pray five times a day. No matter where they are or what they are doing, they stop and pray. They also believe in a good way of life and a peaceful life. This is one of the major similarities Muslims and Christianity share. these things all describe a muslim but these are not all of the characteristics. Theses are just some of the major points. There are many similarities and relationships between Christianity and Islam. These are some the major similarities. Fist of course one that his already been mentioned. That is the belief in only one god. Christianity believes in God and Islam believes in Allah. They are basically the same, Allah is God in Arabic. Both are believed to be the rulers of the world and the creators of the world. It is said they have the power to destroy the world and the people on it. They are also both known to give chances to their people and opportunities to help their chances for heaven in the afterlife. Christianity and Islam both believe in prophets who have helped excel their religion. The two religions even share some the of the same stories. The most noted of course is Abraham who is highly respected by both religions. Jesus is also a prophet of both religions. However he is not thought of the same in Islam as in Christianity. Of course in Christianity he is thought of the Son of God and is very important. He is the most important person in the Christian religion. He still is respected by the Islamic religion however and they both believe that he will return again in the future. Other prophets that both religions acknowledge are Noah, Moses, and David. Other similarities include things such as theses. Belief in self-defense. This is believed to be acceptable by both parties if it is neccessary. Self-defense and fighting is ok in times of war or trouble. War is thought of as a last resort. It has been said that war is nessecary in life because if there was no war civilization would definitly be hindered in some way. History needs war and change. Overall in both religions violence is not accepted. Even though the Islamic religion has been linked with violence and terrorism Muslims are not in anyway linked to these acts and do not accept them. There are certain people that take these actions into there own hands and do them in the name of Allah. That is not something a true muslim would do or praise. Another similarity would be the holy books they use for praise. Christianity and Islam both have a holy book, which guides them through their spiritual life. Christianity follows the words of the Bible while Muslim people follow the words of the Quran.. Another would be the ability to confess and repent for there sins. Christians and Muslims both confess their sins to God. The only difference is that Catholics also can repent to priest while usually Muslims just repent to Allah. However there are acceptions like the protestants who like the muslims only can repent their sins to God. Some other similarities include Houses of worship. Christians have the church, Muslims have the mosque. Both have holy days, holy days for Christianity includes: Christmas (most Christians), Easter, and other holidays. Islam has New Years, Ashura, Mawlid, lunar month of Ramadan, Id al-Fitr, and ad al-Adha. Last both follow all legal matters and make sure laws of the countries enforced. These are the major similarities between the two religions. There are also a lot of differences between the two religions. However the differences are not as clear as the similarities and there is not as many. These are some of the major differences. First of course are there thoughts on Jesus. In Islam of course he is respected and is thought of as a prophet but he is not the main symbol of their religion as he is in the Christian religion. To Christians Jesus is the savior of the world who died for everyone. This is not believed to be by the Muslims. Christians believe that the Romans executed Jesus. Islam’s do not believe in this claim, they say Jesus was never executed or didn’t even die; instead he rose up into heaven alive. It can’t be denied however that Jesus was an important figure in Islam. He was definitely thought of as a holy person. Note the word person because they did not believe him to be god’s son. He was just a regular person like everyone else who was extremely holy and chosen by god to speak his good words. Muhammad was the major prophet in Islam and he was said to do miracles much like Jesus was said to have done in Christianity. Muhammad didn’t die like Jesus, who died to save the world; instead he died peacefully of old age. Another major difference is the state of an individual at birth. In Christianity all Christians are born with original sin. This is the sin that was given to them by the acts of Adam and Eve who at the beginning of time betrayed Jesus by eating the holy apples off the holy tree. Muslims believe that when a person is born they are born pure and without sin. It is themselves that bring on sin. The holy day of Christia...
