Differences and Similarities between Cartagena and Bend

In Cartagena, there are no posted speed limits; it is rare to see cross walks, and the bus drivers never stop to let the pedestrian cross the street. In Cartagena, individuals own the buses and compete to get more passengers, and the buses that go by every couple of minutes. Because Cartagena and Bend are at different altitudes, the weather varies for both cities. In Cartagena the climate is very warm all year long; 65º Fahrenheit is the lowest temperature. To tolerate the heat, the people wear casual clothing such as light pants, T-shirts, shorts, skirts, light blouses and sandals, and must have air conditioners or fans in their homes. On the other hand, the weather in Bend varies from the coldest season to the hottest; the temperature ranges from -10º to 110º. In the day in the summer it can be 100º, but it cools down at night, so people wear a few layers of clothing like heavy pants and shirt with long underwear plus a heavy jacket, and sometimes they need to heat the house. In Cartagena, no one has to worry about the road being frozen and slippery as the roads often are in Bend. The streets usually are dry, and sometimes they get wet because of the rain, but they’re still safe to drive on. I drove in Bend about two and a half years, and I was always afraid of driving in the snow. Although Cartagena and Bend have many differences, they also have the similarity of being visited by many people every year. The main attractions of Cartagena are the beaches, the surrounding islands and the beautiful bay. People also go to Cartagena to experience its history and to see its castles and monuments, like the Inquisition Museum with its exhibits of the history of torture and the terrible instruments that carried it out.
