Death Penalty
...eld by supporters of capital punishment is invalid. However, I feel that economic affairs should be the least of our concerns in consideration to the life of a man. In our judicial system a man is guilty until proven innocent. We feel as United States citizens, we uphold the truest values, justice being one of them. Shockingly though, several men have been executed, and later found innocent, with the introduction of new evidence. Does this prove justice?! When I ask myself why the death penalty is in place I remember that it is aimed at deterring criminals. After many studies it was concluded that capital punishment does little to sway potential murderers. It frustrates me that such an inhumane practice be instituted in the US judicial system. Rather than using scare tactics to deter potential criminals, I believe our society should enforce restorative justice. I feel that rather than use capital punishment or lifetime jail sentences, our judicial system should work towards helping its community. Morally I feel that the death penalty is wrong. Instituting the death penalty is abusing an act of God. One should be of a forgiving and nurturing nature.
