... No one greeted him as a hero. Not many people listened to his stories. His stories were the one thing He could relate to, because he lived through it. He did not have much of anything to talk about. Neighbors felt it was ridiculous that Harold returned from war so many years after. He soon discovered he had to lie for people to listen to him. Although his lies were not important, the lies he told made him think of the years he spent in the war. Harold was a lonely guy, and didn’t want to make any attempts to have friends. His days consisted of sleeping late, eating at home, practicing his clarinet, going to the poolroom, and then to bed. He seen that there were so many good looking girls. He just didn’t have the courage to step up to them. Instead of talking to them, he would stare at them from the front porch. He wanted a girl, but did not want to work to get her. He did not want to tell any more lies. Harold Krebs did not have love or emotion for anyone since the war. After an argument with his parents he stated he did not love anyone.
